Kathmandu’s Dharahara Tapari Momo Fined Rs. 200,000 for Food Safety Violation

Kathmandu – A fine of Rs. 200,000 has been imposed on Dharahara Tapari Momo, located in Sundhara, Kathmandu, after a metal ring was found inside a momo (dumpling) during a routine inspection. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) stated that the food item did not meet the required food quality standards.

According to Nurnidhi Nyaupane, head of the Agriculture and Food Department of KMC and inspection officer, the restaurant had repeatedly violated prior directives from the metropolitan authority and had failed to maintain proper food hygiene and quality.

The KMC has ordered the business owner to deposit the fine amount through a bank within seven days and report to the municipal office with proof of payment. Additionally, the business has been instructed to ensure that food hygiene and safety standards are fully met in the production and distribution of food in the future.
